GALVANIZED AIRCRAFT CABLE
NOT FOR AIRCRAFT USE
Galvanized aircraft cable is special-strength cable originally made to handle the strain of aircraft controls. The steel cable is coated with zinc or copper to prevent corrosion. This helps the cable last much longer, making it suitable for high-friction uses. Galvanized aircraft cable is technically a wire rope, made by twisting strands of steel wire; aircraft cable may also be made of stainless steel but galvanized cable is much cheaper and actually 10% stronger, making it excellent for many commercial applications. The 7x7 refers to how many strands of steel wire are used to make the cable. The construction is usually based around a center wire and wound in a helix. The first 7 indicates that there are 7 strands in the wire rope, the second 7 denotes that there are 7 wires in each strand. The cable is then coated with either nylon or PVC/vinyl. 3/32" represents the steel rope's diameter and 3/16" the final coated diameter.

This type of cable is made of special strength wires primarily for aircraft controls and miscellaneous uses in the aircraft industry. Commercial grade aircraft cable cannot be used for aircraft controls. However, it is used in many general-purpose applications such as slings, winch line, non-aircraft control cables and more
